Amathole
The Amathole Economic Development Agency (ASPIRE) has adopted enterprise development as one of its programs to ensure that it delivers on the economic development of the Amathole District Municipality (ADM).
ASPIRE and ADM with Six of the ADM Local Municipalities handed equipment and materials to SMMEE and small-scale farming projects, each project was supported with equipment & materials to the value of R 20 000.00 each. The program started on the 30th of November 2023 and has delivered to +- 20 SMME and small-scale farming projects since it started.
The support that ASPIRE and ADM have provided to the SMMEs and the small-scale farming enterprises has made a huge impact in improving the livelihoods of project beneficiaries in their Local Municipalities, as well as contributing to reducing poverty and creating employment for the unemployed youth.
These enterprises are deeply rooted in their local communities, with their operations and decisions directly impacting the communities they serve, leading to improved social and economic conditions. By creating jobs and engaging in regional supply chains, the SMMEs & small-scale farming enterprises have contributed greatly to sustainable development at the grassroots level.
