ASPIRE, Fort Hare Project Partnership Strengthens

The Chief Executive Officer of ASPIRE, Mr. Avuyile Xabadiya, accompanied by executives and staff members, held a strategic meeting with the University of Fort Hare Agricultural Research Directorate, led by Professor Taruvinga, National Chairperson in Circular Economy: Leveraging Smart Technologies for Sustainable Ecologies, Food Security and Climate Resilience, awarded by the National Research Foundation (NRF) to lead six pioneering research projects. Professor Taruvinga was joined by Associate Professor Jere from the University’s Information Technology faculty.

The engagement focused on establishing a partnership and identifying areas of alignment between ASPIRE and UFH. Presentations highlighted innovative recycling projects and collaborative opportunities aimed at driving local economic development for the people of the Amathole region.

The meeting culminated in the presentation of the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and a framework for cooperation, underscoring shared commitment to advancing sustainable economic development, employment creation, and project implementation through research-driven initiatives.

ASPIRE values this partnership as a milestone in strengthening ties between academia and development agencies, ensuring that the agency's plans and project implementations are informed by research and are data driven to respond directly to the needs of the people of Amathole.
