Stutterheim Profile
Stutterheim, the main economic node of Amahlathi
Local Municipality is acting as an administrative
as well as a business centre to the neighbouring
towns, townships and rural hinterland. The economy
of the town is defined by four key factors namely:
- Government services
- Forestry & agriculture
- Manufacturing
- Retail services

Stutterheim is characterized by historically fragmented
patterns of spatial development, which mirror fragmented
and unequal levels of services provision like social
facilities, infrastructure, socio-economic well-being
and land tenure arrangements. The main differences exist
in the western part of Stutterheim and its neighboring
residential areas such as Mlungisi, Cenyu, Cenyuland,
Kubusi and Kologha that house the majority of the population.
